Dr. Scholl’s for Her – Cozy Cushions Review

Influenster strikes again!  As I’ve raved in the past, I’m here to review yet another awesome product that I received free from Influenster.  I’ve tried a few different Dr. Scholl’s products from Influenster in the past, but by far these are my favorites.  I always have cold feet.  Always.  I’m not keen on wearing socks and shoes, especially socks.  But at the same time, I hate having cold feet.  Pathetic dilemma, right?

Until I met the Cozy Cushions by Dr. Scholl’s.

They’re super soft — and mega warm!  I’ve worn them all over the place.  They’re perfect in any kind of shoe, too.

My combat boots have seen better days, but I wore them to get our Christmas tree, to Pennhurst Asylum and various other places since the winter hit and with the Cozy Cushions inside of them, they’ve never been more comfortable!  And to me, there’s nothing better on a casual day than my well-loved, perfectly-comfortable boots to face the cold weather.

I love my Hunter boots, but they’re notoriously frigid in cold weather.  They’re great at keeping your feet dry but with nothing but rubber encasing your foot, they are cold in the cool weather.  I found this out the hard way one winter when I didn’t wear socks with them out in the snow.  BRRR.  Now, I can wear socks and my Cozy Cushions and my feet stay warm, dry and comfortable in the rain or potential snow for the winter months ahead of us.

I didn’t face the crowds on Black Friday but these were my exciting purchase at Kohl’s online sale. — 20 dollars, plus a percentage off, plus cash-back and Kohls cash?  Yes please!  The Cozy Cushions fit perfectly in these and keep my feet nice and toasty warm!

What I love about Dr. Scholl’s is they’re so easy — trim to size and then you can shift them from shoe to shoe with ease.  They’re also comfortable and last FOREVER.  I can use them daily and they don’t wear out quickly, which is great!

If you’re looking for warm, comfortable feet for this coming winter, I personally suggest you purchase a pair of the Cozy Cushions for Her by Dr. Scholl’s.  They are so soft, so warm and so comfortable.  I can say with confidence that I do not think that you’ll regret it, especially if you’re a cold-footed creature like me!

And as always, thanks to Influenster for my free products!  🙂

this product was given to me by Influenster, but I was in no way paid, bribed or compensated for my review.  my only ‘reward’ is to receive this product free-of-charge to test and review honestly.

Rimmel Retro Glam

I’ve talked about it before — but I absolutely love Influenster.  I recently had the privilege to receive the Rose Vox Box from them and by far, this has been my favorite box of the ones I’ve received.  I mean, what could be better?  I got chocolate, I got beauty products, I got amazing warm and fuzzy foot accessories — it’s perfect for cold winter days like today.

Included in my box was Rimmel Retro Glam Mascara.  I. Love. Mascara.  I’m always up for finding new brands of it also, because I enjoy experimenting with my lashes and seeing what combinations I can come up with to get the desired results for my lashes.  So I was totally pumped to try out this mascara and it did not disappoint.

It promises no clumps — as you’ll see below, my lashes don’t look clumped like other brands I’ve tried in the past.

Scandalous, right?

That’s with a lack of makeup other than the mascara.  I didn’t even use a lash curler.  So you can only imagine the looks you could concoct if you curled, primed and then covered your lashes in this mascara.

Talk about retro glam:

Now that’s perhaps a bit too bold of a look for me, I’m really not retro glam, but I love how despite all the fabulous shadow and liner she has happening, you can still see bam, lashes!  I wish I could pull off such a flashy look as this… maybe I need to break out of the box a bit.

Regardless, I found that this mascara is great for all types of looks.  You can rock it natural with just a touch of liner and a dose of mascara.  You can wear it simpler with shadow, liner and mascara.  Or you can go a step above and beyond the rest and stand out in a crowd by going for the dramatic.

I swear, Georgia May could make a paper bag look stunning.

So if you love mascara and big, bold, beautiful lashes, I highly suggest getting out there and grabbing the Retro Glam mascara and giving it a go!  Whether you want something outrageous or simple, I don’t think this will disappoint!

Green Mountain Coffee — 3 Continent Blend (review)

Coffee is coffee, right?  It generally tastes the same, looks the same, smells the same… you get the idea.  It’s either caffeinated, to give you that boost you need on Monday morning, or it’s decaffeinated because you’re pregnant or don’t want to be kept up all night on a caffeine high.  You have it iced or hot, with or without sugar, with or without cream.  You love it, you live for it, but to you, coffee is coffee.

For the most part, I was a ‘coffee is coffee’ person until recently.  For the first 26 years of my life, I never drank coffee.  I didn’t like the taste, wasn’t too keen on the smell and though I eventually, in college, learned to like frappuchinos and lattes, coffee was not my thing.  Then, just before turning 26, I had a baby.

Things change when you have a baby.

One of the biggest changes for me was coffee — I learned that despite sleeping two broken hours a night, somehow the world expects you to functional like a normal, slightly rational human being.  Work doesn’t stop needing you, the house doesn’t clean itself and the world revolves around making sure that things are done no matter how tired you may feel.  That’s when coffee became my best friend.

Initially, I just wanted coffee — any coffee.  Load it up with flavored creamer to mask the taste and boom, I was set for the day.  Eventually my taste changed and I realized that coffee really isn’t that bad.  Less flavored creamer, more flavor… but still, coffee was just coffee.  Sure, it would sometimes have flavor, like hazelnut or dark chocolate.  But I never took into account anything but that one word that made my day easier: coffee.

Then I got invited to participate in BzzAgent’s Fair Trade Certified™ (from Green Mountain Coffee®) campaign.  Before receiving my BzzKit, I began reading on ChooseFairTrade.com about why Fair Trade is a good thing and what makes the difference between Fair Trade and your other coffees.  And I realized that besides tasting great, my coffee can have a life-altering impact on the people who help provide me with my daily cup of Joe.

As taken directly from the Choose Fair Trade website:

“Fair Trade certification gives farmers a fair price for their beans with a guaranteed minimum, which means they can invest in their crops, their communities, and their future. Fair Trade also lets Green Mountain Coffee® and farmers work closely together to bring the best tasting coffee to market.”

If you read further, you can read about Kelly Clarkson’s venture into the world of Fair Trade coffee.  She posted an amazing travel-logue of her journey and it’s really enlightening as to why we should choose Fair Trade.  So that caught my attention and I became very interested in tasting the Three Continent Blend that they were offering me with my BzzKit.  I’m all for supporting local business, small business, et cetera.  I prefer buying my milk at a local farm than through a major corporation.  I try and buy local veggies and fruits when I can.  So why not buy a coffee that strives to make better provisions for the coffee farmers and their communities?

When my sample arrived, I was pleasantly surprised — the Three Continent Blend is amazing.  It tastes absolutely wonderful, assaulting your mouth with the perfect blend of three different types of coffee from three different continents (hence the name, obviously).  It’s a light coffee, in my opinion, but boasts a very bold flavor.  I find myself needing very little cream — and typically not a flavored creamer unless I’m having a craving — because the taste is just that good.  There’s no bitter aftertaste and I find it’s perfect to drink at any time of day.  It’s become a go-to in our household and we have gone and purchased multiple boxes since the promotion.

So I challenge you to give Fair Trade a try.  What’s the worst harm that can come from it?  You can make a difference for our coffee bean farmers and may discover that you love the flavor and feel-good warm fuzzies that you get from knowing you made a difference.  And please, go check out ChooseFairTrade.com and read more about the Fair Trade world for coffee.

As a BzzAgent, I was not paid for my review, but given a sample free of charge about which I was writing.  I’m not an employee of Green Mountain or BzzAgent.  The opinions above are my own and nothing more.  I obtain no further compensation — other than my initial free sample — as a result of writing this.

Dr. Scholl’s Active Series

As a member of the Influenster community, I get the opportunity to test many awesome products, free of charge, in exchange for my feedback.    If you are not a member of Influenster, you are truly missing out!

Recently I had the opportunity to try, and review, Dr. Scholl’s Active Series insoles.  As someone who enjoys being active, but suffers from knee pain (thanks to a HS knee injury), I was really excited to slip these into my workout shoes and give them a go.

They. Are. Awesome.

My shoes are so comfortable, it’s incredible!  I have old sneakers that are in dire need of being replaced, and now they feel brand-new as a result of the insoles.  I went to the Green Dragon Farmer’s Market in Ephrata (awesome place, btw!) and I wore Aria all day long… not a single ounce of pain!  I’ve worn them running, hiking, out in the yard and all over creation… they seriously feel like a brand-new pair of shoes.  They absorb shock wonderfully, make the fit of my shoes that much better and create a comfortable resting point for the arches of my feet.

If you’re looking for insoles for your active-wear shoes, I will highly suggest that you try these.  They are amazing.

Thank you Dr. Scholl’s and thank you Influenster for, once again, a wonderful shoe experience!

Introduction to Lysol Touch of Foam

My neighbors probably think I’m crazy.

Today I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of our mail carrier, because I knew that one of Aria’s Easter gifts was set to arrive.  I ordered hair clips for her, and they were sent inside Easter eggs so I don’t even know what they look like, and won’t until Easter Sunday — pretty exciting surprise for us both.  I ordered them from @vals_headbands on Instagram — highly recommend for anyone who has little girl(s) (or big ones!) who like hair accessories.  Anyway, I knew the hair pieces were arriving, but what I did not realize was that I also was getting my next Bzzkit from BzzAgent!  I did a little dance by the mailbox… then realized my neighbors were outside enjoying the weather and hurried back inside to finish my victory dancing.

This campaign is the Lysol® Touch of Foam Antibacterial Hand Wash one, and I am super excited to participate.  I use other Lysol products in my house, but have never tried their foam wash before, so I cannot wait to get my hands on it (all puns intended).  I have not used it yet, that’s for another blog post, but I have already cracked open the bottle to take a whiff and oh, does it smell amazing!  The scent I received is creamy vanilla orchid and I absolutely love it!  Normally I’m not a big fan of vanilla-scented products, but this is absolutely wonderful.  I don’t really detect much of the vanilla, it’s mostly undertones, and the soap is perhaps a little more potent than I would typically buy, however I do like the fragrance a lot. I will admit, I’m concerned my husband may complain that it smells too “girly” — he likes a more neutral-smelling hand wash — but we will see.  He hasn’t gotten home yet to see my new mailbox filler yet, so I will be sure to update on his thoughts.

Lysol® Touch of Foam has the current claim to fame:

Soft on skin, hard on germs

Sure, washing your hands is necessary. But there are only three things that get us excited to do it: petting zoos, public transportation and NEW Lysol® Touch of Foam Antibacterial Hand Wash. The dual effect of the rich lather is soft on skin, yet hard on germs, leaving your hands feeling so luxurious, you’ll want to wash them more often. And not just because you really like the petting zoo.

  • Rich non-drip lather works on contact to kill 99.9% of germs
  • Offers 10x more germ protection than the leading national competitor
  • Moisturizer-enriched micro-bubbles leave your hands feeling soft and comfortable after every wash
  • Available in three great scents — Creamy Vanilla Orchid, Rose & Cherry in Bloom and Wild Berry Bliss
  • Antimicrobial properties are built in to protect the pump and resist odor-causing bacteria

Healthy hands means a healthier you

Health matters. To all of us. That’s why Lysol® started their Mission for Health. With new mom programs, healthy habits initiatives in schools and disaster relief efforts, the company is dedicated to doing more for everyone’s health. The mission is fueled by passion and backed by their expertise in killing germs. So when you use Lysol® at home, you’ll know you’re a part of something bigger.

For healthy hands and more, visit lysol.com/mission-for-health.

I’ve had great results with other Lysol products in the past, so I eagerly anticipate testing this product and seeing if it holds true to the claims that it makes on the website.

Anyway, just a brief peek into my newest Bzzkit — be sure to stay tuned to hear my thoughts on this new product from Lysol!  And if anyone is interested in becoming a BzzAgent, it’s something I highly recommend!  It’s easy, it’s fun, and it is a great way to test and review new and wonderful products.  This is my third campaign so far, and I am so grateful to have participated in each one.  So if you aren’t currently a BzzAgent and want to become one, I suggest you hop on over and sign up now!

And don’t forget to come back soon to hear our review of Lysol Touch of Foam!

Colgate 360 Challenge – 5 days + Sleep Battle Update

I’m delayed on posting this — between being at my mom’s for a few days last week, and the cantata at our church this Sunday, I have been busy, busy, busy!

However, after 5 days of the Colgate 360 challenge, this is the update I have (the after was taken on the 5th day but I didn’t get to post until now):

ImageSort of creepy to look at, isn’t it?  But I haven’t done any editing, besides putting them together in picframe.  I regret not taking photos with my actual camera for a better quality shot, but I’m working with what I started using, to keep consistency, haha.  Anyway, I think that there’s a difference!  So I’m excited.  The toothbrush is great, nice and soft and doesn’t irritate my gums.  The mouthwash is a bit strong but I can feel a difference after using it, and I love the toothpaste.  So, thumbs up so far!  We’ll see what happens on days 10, 20 and 30!

On to the sleep issues.  Last week, we rearranged Aria’s room and removed one side of the crib and pushed it against the twin bed in her room.  Instant success, she was willing to play in the crib and roll around in it as long as someone was with her.  So, improvement to say the least!  We have been taking her in at night and lying with her, so she has to put herself to sleep but she isn’t alone.  Once she’s asleep, we block off the end of the bed and she’s contained and safe, but in her own room, own space.

She’s sleeping wonderfully!  I’m not sure how or when we’ll get to the point of not needing to be in there with her for bedtime, but for now, this works.  We figure we will take it one day at a time.  I’m currently reading the No-Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers and Preschoolers, hoping it’ll help us get to that point.  But I am pleased with the progress we made, and grateful that most nights (she’s getting molars + is sick atm, hence the most) she sleeps straight through the night and doesn’t wake to nurse until morning.

So, we’re praying this continues to go well.

Many things to update, in terms of product reviews and other such nonsense, but I’m cutting it short for tonight.  I need to get a lot of work done around the house, but now that I’m back and in the groove, I’ll be posting more frequently.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Vaseline Spray & Go Lotion – review

Credit to VaselineAs part of my Influenster VoxBox, I received a sample of the Vaseline Spray & Go lotion – about which I was very excited.  I already own a couple other various products of theirs, because I find that their lotions are fabulous.  The claim to fame for this particular line is that they’re quick and easy to apply, absorb quickly and leave your skin smooth and soft, perfect for someone on-the-go.  Sounds like my life as a mom – I can barely brush my teeth without being pummeled, so I have come to value the small things in life… like getting a shower, haha.

I have used the lotion every day since the day it arrived, and I wanted to make sure I did a few times before writing a review.  Like all other Vaseline products, I found that the scent is light, which I love.  Sometimes I want a fragrant lotion, but there’s plenty of times I just want something light and delicate, like before bed or when I’m heading outside in the summer – less attraction for the bugs!  I have the Total Moisture with oat extract, so I’m not sure how the other two smell (Aloe Fresh and Cocoa Radiant), but other reviews have said they have a light scent too, not overpowering, so I’m intrigued enough to look into them.

Their advertising does not lie, either – you spray it on, rub it in, it quickly dries and your skin is left feeling silky-smooth and non-oily. I tend to have sensitive skin and this, like other Vaseline products I’ve purchased in the past, did not irritate my skin at all.  No burning, no itching, no rashes – just smooth, silky skin.

However, since it is winter I found that the lotion is a bit too thin for some of the rougher patches of dry skin (I have a small patch of what my doctor says is eczema on my left ankle, prime example) that are typical of wintertime.  So for those patches, I still found myself applying something with a thicker, body butter-like consistency, to better coat and soften those areas.  In that respect, I think this kind of lotion would be better suited for your warmer months, or for someone who may be blessed enough to not battle such dry skin.

The only other con I would mention is that, like most spray-on products (sunscreen is another one that I’ve had this qualm with in the past), I feel as though it’s a bit wasteful to spray the product directly onto my legs and arms.  I ended up with a slightly slippery bathroom floor, which meshes really well with the sticky remnants of hairspray from yesterday’s battle with my wavy hair.  So I have found that I’m actually spraying the product into my palms and then applying it to my skin, as opposed to directly onto the areas on which I’d like to apply.

Despite these bumps in the road, however, I would still rate this product as at least a must-try for anyone looking for a light, delicate lotion that dries quickly and leaves behind smooth skin.   I will continue using mine when I am hurrying along to get ready, but I think until the winter months have passed (quickly?! I can hope!) and my skin is a bit less dry and irritated, I may hang onto it for use in the spring and summer months.

So all in all, Vaseline pulls through again and delivers a product that I will continue to use, and would purchase in the future.  Here’s to hoping that spring is soon upon us, and we can abandon the mittens and puffy jackets for flip flops and skirts (and less dry skin).
